ASX- and TSX-listed Perseus Mining has confirmed the death of a second employee following an offsite vehicle accident, near its Bagoé gold mine, in Côte d’Ivoire, on January 15.

The employee had been in hospital since the accident but succumbed to his injuries.

The company previously confirmed that one contractor employee had died in the accident.

Other passengers in the vehicle sustained minor injuries and have been released from the hospital.

Perseus is investigating the accident alongside government authorities.

The company, together with the ore haulage contractor on site, Binkadi, is also providing support to the families of the diseased, and to the entire Sissuangué complex team as they come to terms with this tragic event.

The Bagoé mine forms part of the Sissingué gold complex.
