Johannesburg, which along with the rest of the country is being afflicted by regular power cuts, plans to seek at least R3.8-billion in investment in alternative electricity supply. Bloomberg reports that the country’s economic powerhouse will, in September, issue a request for information for the construction of a 150 MW utility solar plant, along with 100 MW of battery storage, 50 MW of rooftop solar and the refurbishment of an idle gas-fired plant to generate 20 MW.
