Business Unity South Africa president Sipho Pityana (left) used the 2020 edition of the organisaiton’s Business Economic Indaba not only to reinforce business’ support for President Cyril Ramaphosa, but also to press him into accelerating business- and growth-friendly reforms. In his address, Pityana cautioned Ramaphosa not to overemphasise “leadership by consensus”, warning that such an approach could condemn the country to reforming “at the pace of the slowest and the most conservative; or worst still being vetoed by an unaccountable lot”.
