New multipurpose drill rig launched
DRILL SERGEANT The new Commando DC300Ri is a tough and manoeuverable drill rig for multiple applications
Global engineering company Sandvik Mining and Rock Technology has added a new surface top hammer drill rig – the versatile Commando DC300Ri – to its offering.
The drill rig is ideal for drill and blast contractors as it suits multiple different applications, according to the company.
The Commando DC300Ri is a modern, fully radio remote-controlled, rubber tyred surface top hammer drill rig with a vast hole size range – from 38 mm to 64 mm using R28, R32 and T35 male-female rods. The rig is equipped with four-wheel-drive motors and oscillation, which guarantees excellent mobility and stability in difficult terrain. Together with a new boom structure and a reliable HL300 rock drill, the new rig offers high productivity and low operating costs in challenging environments.
The Commando DC300Ri is extremely mobile and agile. It features four powerful tramming motors with maximum tramming force of 43 kN in total. Rubber tyres and the about 10º oscillation contribute to excellent manoeuvrability. A completely new, reinforced boom structure with extended swing and reach results in 20% larger coverage area, compared with earlier models, equalling 12 m2. A flushing air capacity of 3.0 m3/m allows for deeper hole depth with larger hole sizes and the 24 V electric system adds durability.
Featuring the advanced iTorque drilling control system available in its size class makes the Commando DC300Ri top-of-the-line in drilling performance and ensures longer steel life. The compressor control system and new engine manufacturer CAT 3.6 74.4 kW Tier4/ Stage-5 engine contribute to unsurpassed fuel efficiency, adding up to more than 30% improvement, compared with earlier models in the same size class.
The Commando DC300Ri follows the same unique modular design as other smaller Sandvik next-generation surface drill rigs. This logical layout ensures high uptime with easily accessible service points, onboard diagnostics and small transportation dimensions. Being only 2.85 m in height allows for easy and fast transportation of the rig from site to site on a small truck or even a trailer.
