Tell us about your company’s products & services?
RS Components is a global distributor of products and components for the industrial and electronics sector. RS stocks over 500 000 products across 2 500 leading brands. We specialise in assisting companies to reduce their procurement costs related to maintenance, repair and operations purchases. This is done by applying a combination of five key strategies and 32 cost-saving tactics that can reduce maintenance, repair and operations procurement costs by up to 35%.
Our business model is e-commerce based and the main channel through which we serve our customers is our website, with almost 65% of our global revenue coming from online sales. Our offering is set up so that if we have local stock our customers can receive next-day delivery within major city centres and, if we need to fulfil an order via our global distribution centres, a customer will receive delivery of their order within four to six working days.
What is RS Pro?
RS Components was founded on its private label range and the company has continued to build on it due to the increasing demand for high-quality, affordable products by engineering professionals, hence the name ‘RS Pro’. RS Pro has been developed over 80 years by working closely with customers and suppliers to meet the necessary requirements and standards for industrial environments. The products range from simple consumables like batteries and hand tools to more complex sensing and control products, as well as test and measurement devices.
What industries can RS Pro be used in?
RS Pro is quite versatile owing to the choice of over 40 000 products in various categories that can be used in the mining, transport and automotive, printing, plastics, chemicals, pharmaceuticals, marine and offshore, and food and beverage sectors.
What makes the product range unique?
RS Pro fills a particular gap in the industrial market where there is a requirement for high-quality products without the high price tag. This product range has been developed with affordability in mind and can give customers up to a 30% cost saving against other leading brands. The key here is the unrivalled choice of over 40 000 products backed by the RS Seal of approval, which guarantees the quality of our products. The seal of approval is based on a three-stage process where every RS Pro product is first inspected and stamped for the applicable industry standard. Secondly, it is checked by our engineers for manufacturing flaws, and, finally, each product goes through lab testing to ensure that the products can withstand the harsh environments that they will be used in.
Where was the range developed?
The range originated in the UK and is tested according to UK/European standards. The products are made by gold standard manufacturers who are technical experts in their respective fields.
Do you export?
Yes, RS distributes globally and, in particular, RS South Africa distributes products to a number of countries in sub-Saharan Africa.
