Multinational mining at metals processing group Sibanye-Stillwater expects to report headline earnings per share (HEPS) of between $0.098 and $0.109, or between 180c and 200c in rand terms, for the six months ended June 30.

That represents an increase of more than 100% on the HEPS of $0.05, or 10c in rand terms, reported for the first half of 2024.

Further, the group expects to report a basic loss a share of between $0.065 and $0.072, or between 120c and 133c in rand terms, for the six months to June 30, compared with a loss a share of $0.14, or 259c in rand terms, reported for the prior comparable period.

The difference between positive HEPS and the basic loss a share is primarily owing to the recognition of impairment losses relating to the US platinum group metal operations and the Keliber lithium project, Sibanye-Stillwater says.
