Specialist inspection, non-destructive testing company continues providing quality through experience
Over the past 41 years De-Tect Unit Inspection & Cooperheat of Africa has grown into one of the leading companies providing specialised inspection, non-destructive testing (NDT), and thermal services to various industries.
The company, which strives to provide quality backed by its extensive experience, provides reliable, cost-effective solutions within the rigorous timeframes demanded by clients, while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and quality.
Through innovative use and implementation of the latest technologies, along with sharing best practice and applying lessons learnt, the company says that it provides value-added inspection and testing to all industry sectors.
The human factor is also highly prioritised, with the company’s trained and qualified personnel “highly experienced in applying equipment and procedures to all projects”.
“The investment we make in our people, processes and equipment ensures that we can add value and optimise our service delivery with a high degree of quality, integrity and expertise,” De-Tect says.
It adds that it provides services globally, which include technical solutions, adding that the company can mobilise complete, fully operational teams at short notice for all projects and is ready to assist anywhere in the world.
The company’s services comprise of manual and automated ultrasonic scanning systems, including Phased Array, Time of Flight Diffraction (ToFD), A-scan and Guided Wave techniques.
The radiography services include digital as well as computed radiography along with close proximity systems using x-ray or gamma ray techniques.
These, used in conjunction with battery-operated self-propelled crawlers, can be applied for pipeline projects and other specific applications.
De-Tect also offers corrosion mapping and wall thickness surveys, and tank floor inspection and mapping. To complement the corrosion technology, it can use composite wrapping to prolong life of components that are examined until a more permanent repair can be performed, undertake positive material identification and verification, or conduct hardness surveys using a variety of surface and visual crack detection techniques.
In addition to this, the company can assist clients in overcoming their thermal technology challenges through Cooperheat of Africa, which offers extensive heat treatment services.
“We provide electrical surface heating, induction heating, trace heating, refractory dry outs and curing, ladle drying, and on site pre- and post-weld heat treatments.”
High velocity, fuel-, gas- or electric-fired burners and temporary or fixed furnace heating solutions, as well as thermal stress analysis, can be provided alongside engineering and metallurgical services and feasibility studies, which are then used to validate and qualify proposed procedures.
“By integrating the skills present in all areas of our business, we can provide complete turnkey solutions for today and for the future,” the company says.
The company’s products and services can be applied to a variety of projects, including pre- and in-service maintenance and shutdowns, as well as turnarounds, expansions, modifications and outages.
