TARIFF THREAT

TARIFF THREAT: President Donald Trump refrained from imposing previously threatened tariffs on China, Canada and Mexico when he signed a slew of executive orders on January 20. Nevertheless, he set February 1 as a possible date for imposing tariffs of up to 25% on Mexico and Canada and has initiated a review that could result in the imposition of tariffs on Chinese goods. Trump has also indicated that he is still considering a universal tariff on all foreign imports to the US. Photograph: Bloomberg
