Canadian major Teck Resources has reported 2025 yearly copper production of 453 500 t, in line with previously disclosed guidance, supported by strong operational performance across its portfolio during the fourth quarter.

In a production and sales update released on Tuesday, the diversified miner also reported zinc-in-concentrate production of 565 000 t for the year, at the upper end of its guidance range, while refined zinc production reached 229 900 t, also at the high end of expectations.

Fourth-quarter copper production totalled 134 100 t, with Quebrada Blanca (QB) in Chile contributing 55 400 t, following continued progress on tailings management facility development and a focus on operational stability as the asset moves towards steady-state operations. Copper sales in the quarter were lower than production at 118 600 t, owing to a temporary inventory build-up at QB after adverse weather and sea conditions delayed shipments into early 2026.

Highland Valley Copper in Canada produced 37 100 t of copper in the fourth quarter, while Teck’s attributable production from Antamina in Peru amounted to 26 400 t and Carmen de Andacollo contributed 15 200 t.

Zinc-in-concentrate production in the fourth quarter reached 108 600 t, with Red Dog in Alaska accounting for 87 300 t. Zinc sales of 157 200 t during the period reflected the completion of all Red Dog shipments early in the quarter, consistent with normal seasonal sales patterns.

At Teck’s Trail Operations in Canada, refined zinc production totalled 68 100 t in the fourth quarter. The company said it continued to prioritise the processing of residues to improve profitability and cash generation rather than maximising refined zinc output.

Teck also expects to report positive settlement pricing adjustments of $295-million in the fourth quarter, reflecting higher base metals prices.

The company reaffirmed its previously disclosed production and unit cost guidance for 2026 to 2028 for all Teck-operated sites. However, 2026 zinc-in-concentrate production guidance for Antamina has been revised down to between 35 000 t and 45 000 t, from 55 000 t to 65 000 t previously, following the finalisation of an updated mine plan in the fourth quarter of 2025. Teck’s 2026 copper production guidance for Antamina remains unchanged at 95 000 t to 105 000 t.

Teck’s full fourth-quarter and 2025 financial results are scheduled for release on February 18.
