The next-level catalyst technology
- BASF’s Sulfuric acid catalyst O4‑115 Quattro is built to boost performance, reduce emissions, and enhance plant capacity.
- The unique shape leads to 30% greater catalytic surface area
- Proven performance improvement for sulfuric acid producers is the result
BASF designs catalysts for maximum performance. Since 1913, we have run production plants with the lowest levels of sulfur dioxide (SO2) emissions in the world. That’s because the large surface area of our sulfuric acid catalysts delivers an unrivaled SO2 emissions profile.
The new, cesium-based catalyst is unique due to its geometrical shape – a combination of four strands – leading to a 30% greater catalytic surface area compared to conventional sulfuric acid catalysts.
For sulfuric acid producers, this translates into higher conversion in the catalyst bed, exceptionally low SO2 emissions, energy savings and improved performance in plants with limited catalyst volumes.
Additionally, the O4-115 Quattro features enhanced physical and mechanical properties. Due to its improved catalyst hardness, which is reflected in a lower sieving loss, this new catalyst offers long-term stability and cost-efficient operation.
Because of its excellent low temperature activity, catalyst O4-115 may be installed as an ignition layer or full bed application. It is used in both chemical and process catalysts.
