Environmental consulting and contracting firm SCS Engineers has added two specialists to its environmental management group in the Midwest region in the US, says SCS Engineers principal engineer and VP Samuel Cook.

Two senior air quality and environmental compliance specialists, Ann O’Brien and John Flickinger, are now working for SCS out of offices in Chicago, Illinois and Madison, Wisconsin.

Cook adds that both O’Brien and Flickinger are senior scientists and both come to SCS Engineers from environmental consulting service provider TriMedia Environmental & Engineering Services, where they delivered an impressive combination of environmental compliance solutions to industrial and other clients throughout the nation.

O’Brien earned an MA in Industrial Relations at the University of Chicago and a BSc in Sociology at St. Joseph’s College in Rensselaer, Indiana, highlights Cook, adding that she is a member of the Great Lakes Graphics Association.
Flickinger earned a BSc in Chemistry and a MSc in Water Chemistry, both from the University of Wisconsin in Madison, US, he reports, adding that Flickinger is a member of the Air and Waste Management Association, the American Chemical Society, Wisconsin Manufacturers and Commerce, Midwest Food Processors Association, the Printing Industry of America, and the Wisconsin Paper Council.
“We’re happy to welcome O’Brien and Flickinger to SCS during this period of expansion,” Cook says.

“SCS Engineers’ 60 years of combined experience preventing and solving environmental challenges for business and industry will support its national client base with air regulatory compliance, air permitting, environmental chemistry and the management of health, safety and environmental issues.”

Recent Achievements
SCS Engineers president and CEO Jim Walsh reports that the company ranks as the top engineering firm in the 2016 Waste360 Top 100 Solid Waste and Recycling Firms in North America.

Companies are ranked based on yearly revenue and were published on the Waste360.com website on May 26 this year, he states.

Although the Top 100 list does not identify each type of firm, SCS Engineers is in good company with the top 25 largest waste service companies, says Walsh. He adds that most are large and publicly traded companies, consisting of solid waste and recycling operations that have collection fleets, and own or operate process facilities and landfills.
“The company remains focused on providing superior client service through our trusted technical and field expertise. SCS Engineers truly appreciates its clients and its colleagues who enable the company to continue growing a private engineering firm dedicated to solving environmental challenges,” Walsh concludes.
