Vizsla confirms additional deaths in Concordia worker abduction case

TSX- and NYSE-listed Vizsla Silver has confirmed that two more of the workers abducted from its Panuco project site in Concordia, Mexico, have been found dead, as authorities continue the search for three employees who remain missing.

The company said this week that the families of two additional workers had recently received confirmation that their relatives were deceased. The development follows earlier reports that several of the ten workers taken from the project site on January 23 had been found dead.

Vizsla said it remained focused on supporting the families of the victims and employees affected by the incident during what it described as a period of grief and uncertainty.

“Our hearts are with the families who have lost loved ones, and with those who continue to wait for answers. We remain focused on supporting the affected families and our team, and on the continued efforts to locate those who are still missing,” said president and CEO Michael Konnert.

The company continues to cooperate with Mexican authorities as search operations and the broader investigation proceed.

Earlier reports from local authorities indicated that at least five workers had been confirmed dead following the abduction, while additional bodies discovered elsewhere in the state were undergoing identification.

The incident prompted Vizsla to suspend operations at the Panuco project last month while crisis management and security response measures were implemented.

The company said the safety and security of employees, contractors and community members remained its top priority and that it was reviewing and strengthening security protocols in coordination with local authorities.

Despite the tragedy, Vizsla said it continued to believe in the long-term potential of the Panuco project.
