Lithium exploration and development company Winsome Resources has substantially increased the resource of the Adina project, in the Eeyou Istchee James Bay region of Quebec, while also enhancing the grade and resource category.

The latest mineral resource estimate for Adina pushed up the global tonnage by 33% to 77.9-million tonnes at a grade of 1.15% lithium oxide (Li2O), with an increase of 37% in lithium carbonate-equivalent (LCE) to more than 2.21-million tonnes LCE.

The estimate now includes 61.4-million tonnes at 1.14% Li2O in the higher confidence indicated category.

“To increase the resource by almost 20-milion tonnes while also enhancing our grade and resource category is an exceptional outcome from our latest phase of systematic drilling. In particular the grade which has been defined close to surface in the Main Zone is a key advantage as we progress the Adina lithium project,” said MD Chris Evans.

“It’s important to emphasise the scale, tenor and metallurgical properties of Adina are equivalent to the tier-one lithium assets globally,” he added.

The upgraded mineral resource estimate is based on results from 186 drillholes representing 57 756 m completed to 11 April as part of the company’s extensive exploration and resource delineation drilling programme.

The completion of the resource upgrade has enabled Adina to advance development studies, including detailed mine planning and scheduling, process flowsheet and plant design, and associated infrastructure studies with a view of publishing initial project studies in the third quarter of 2024.

In parallel with project studies, due diligence is continuing on the option to acquire the established Renard operation, processing facility and aossciated infrastructure located 65 km from the Adina deposit.
