Abcourt pours first gold at Sleeping Giant mine
TSX-V-listed Abcourt Mines has completed the first gold pour at its Sleeping Giant mine in Quebec, a key step in the company’s plan to restart operations at the historic asset.
The pour took place on September 11 at the site in the Eeyou Istchee region, the company said Friday. The milestone comes about two months after Abcourt began development work at the mine.
“We are incredibly proud to announce the first gold pour at the Sleeping Giant Mine, a testament to our hard work and dedication,” president and CEO Pascal Hamelin said. “This milestone demonstrates our ability to operate efficiently with a first pour two months after we began the development of the project. This successful gold pour is just the beginning of what promises to be an exciting chapter for Abcourt and its shareholders.”
Abcourt is positioning Sleeping Giant as its flagship operation after acquiring full ownership of the mine and mill complex. The company has previously outlined plans to ramp up production using ore from the site and from nearby deposits.
