AltX- and TSX-V-listed tin concentrate producer Alphamin Resources has reported a 46% year-on-year increase in the inferred resource at its Mpama South project, in the Democratic Republic of Congo, to 4.99-million tonnes.

As such, the Mpama South mineral resource now stands at 840 000 t at a grade of 2.53% tin for 214 000 t contained tin in the indicated category, and 4.99-million tonnes at a grade of 2.5% tin for 1.25-million tonnes of contained tin in the inferred category.

Following the receipt of assays for the additional 22 drillholes, an updated mineral resource estimate (MRE) for the project was completed.

The MRE now includes results from 124 drillholes, as well as six drillholes in the Wedge area from the earlier drilling to 2015.

Meanwhile, Alphamin reports that in-fill drilling at Mpama South is on track for completion by July, while extension drilling is expected to start this month.

In addition, early development works at Mpama South are in progress.

The completion of this project is expected to increase Alphamin’s contained tin production from the current 12 000 t/y to about 20 000 t/y – accounting for about 6.6% of the world’s mined tin.

Currently, Alphamin produces 4% of the world’s mined tin.
