Astron Energy, a proud member of the Glencore Group, is a leading supplier of petroleum products in Southern Africa.

The company is showcasing its offering at the Investing in African Mining Indaba in Cape Town, where Mining Weekly interviewed GM for chemical & industrial and lubricants Axola Myendeki on Monday.

With more than 800 service stations, Astron Energy is the region’s second-largest retail network. Since importing its first crude oil cargo in 1911, the company has played a vital role in meeting South Africa’s fuel needs.

In 2022, it began rebranding to Astron Energy, making the company the most significant change in South African liquid fuels industry in three decades. The company owns and operates a Cape Town refinery, with a daily crude processing capacity of 100 000 barrels, a lubricant manufacturing plant in Durban and several terminals across the region.

With more than 100 years of history, Astron Energy is deeply committed to social investment through education, socioeconomic development and the Astron Energy Development Fund, which supports sustainable local businesses and job creation.
