Bauma 2025 - the heartbeat of the global construction industry
World leader in trade fairs for construction machinery, building material machines, mining machines, construction vehicles and equipment, Bauma is set to return to Munich from April 7 to 13, 2025. The highly anticipated event will bring together industry leaders, innovators and decision-makers from across the globe, solidifying its reputation as the premier platform for networking, technological advancements and market insights.
“Bauma serves as a pulse generator for the construction and mining industries, driving innovation cycles and shaping the future of the sector. This year’s event will welcome 3 500 exhibitors from 57 countries, showcasing cutting-edge products and technologies,” states exhibition organiser Messe München CEO Stefan Rummel.
Notably, while Germany has seen a 19% decline in exhibitors compared to the 2019 exhibition, participation from Asian markets—particularly India, Japan, China and Korea—has grown significantly. First-time exhibitors from Argentina and the Philippines further highlight Bauma’s expanding global reach, he adds.
Major brands such as Volvo, Deutz, CNH and Liugong, which were absent in 2022, are making a return. Additionally, industry giants Fortescue, from Australia, and Sandvik, from Sweden, will be exhibiting for the first time, reinforcing Bauma’s status as a must-attend event.
Addressing Key Industry Challenges
This year’s Bauma will focus on five key themes that are shaping the future of construction and mining. One of the most critical topics is climate neutrality, where companies will showcase their strategies, investments, and roadmaps to achieve a more sustainable future. Another major focus is on alternative drive concepts, with discussions on the opportunities and challenges of new propulsion technologies, as well as the necessary infrastructure to support them.
The acceleration of digitalisation and automation will also take centre stage, particularly in the development of networked construction and automated equipment to enhance efficiency and productivity. Sustainable construction will be a key area of discussion, covering topics such as reducing carbon footprints, conserving resources, and implementing circular economy principles.
Lastly, the event will explore challenges in the mining sector, addressing issues such as securing a stable supply of commodities, advancing automation, and ensuring mining operations meet ESG and sustainability standards. These five themes will be at the core of Bauma’s live demonstrations, exhibitor showcases and expert discussions.
Expanding Infrastructure
Given Bauma’s massive scale—spanning 614 000 m2—the event organisers have invested in improved infrastructure. A new parking lot for 300 buses and a pedestrian bridge will ease traffic congestion and enhance accessibility.
One of the most exciting aspects of Bauma is the unveiling of the latest innovations. Electric- and battery-powered construction equipment is expected to be a major highlight, with notable advancements from companies such as Liebherr, Bobcat and leading Chinese manufacturers.
Meanwhile, Bauma’s Innovation Award will spotlight groundbreaking developments, with a record-breaking 208 applications this year. “This underscores the event’s role in driving technological progress and ensuring the industry remains at the cutting edge,” notes machinery manufacturer VDMA MD Joachim Schmid.
Recognizing the industry’s need for skilled professionals, Bauma will once again host the Think Big Initiative, which has already registered 11 000 students. “This programme aims to inspire the next generation of engineers and construction professionals by showcasing career opportunities in the sector,” he says.
The Road Ahead
As global infrastructure investment rises, particularly in the Middle East, India and Africa, Bauma will serve as a vital platform for business opportunities, collaboration and knowledge-sharing. With visitor numbers expected to surpass 500 000, the event promises to shape the future of the construction and mining industries.
Bauma 2025 is not just an exhibition—it is a meeting point for the world’s leading innovators and decision-makers. Whether exploring new technologies, discussing market trends, or forging international partnerships, attendees can expect an event that will define the next chapter in construction and mining.
