Gold miner DRDGOLD has appointed Andrew Brady an independent nonexecutive director, with effect from December 1.

He will succeed Jean Nel, who resigned from the board with effect from November 27.

DRDGOLD notes that Brady was considered following a recommendation by Sibanye-Stillwater, which holds a majority interest in DRDGOLD through Sibanye Gold, and after reviewing his suitability for the position, as well as obtaining an independent legal opinion as to whether he would be deemed independent.

Brady will also be appointed as a member of the DRDGOLD's audit, risk and investment committees.

He is currently a director of Clean World Capital and has over 25 years of experience both in the resources sector and corporate finance. He holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of the Witwatersrand, a postgraduate diploma in Business Administration from Wits Business School and has attended a Corporate Restructuring Executive Programme at Harvard Business School.

"The board welcomes Mr Brady and looks forward to his contribution to DRDGOLD," the gold miner comments.
