TSX-V-listed Foran Mining has appointed mining executive John Munro to its board of directors, adding more than three decades of global industry experience as the company advances its flagship McIlvenna Bay copper project in Saskatchewan.

Munro, who has held senior roles in copper, gold, uranium and platinum-group metals across multiple continents, was instrumental in building the Khoemacau underground copper mine in Botswana, later sold for $2.1-billion to MMG. He currently serves on the boards of Endeavour Mining and private firm Manuli Ryco.

“I am honoured to join Foran's board of directors. The McIlvenna Bay project represents an exceptional opportunity to develop one of Canada's next great copper mines, and I am excited to contribute to its advancement and potential future growth,” Munro said.

“At Foran, our greatest asset has always been our people, and we're thrilled to welcome John Munro to our board. John brings real-world operational expertise, having built and delivered the Khoemacau underground copper mine in 2021. His practical leadership and ability to unlock and monetize value by developing critical new copper assets make him a powerful addition to our team," commented executive chairperson and CEO Dan Myerson.

Foran is developing McIlvenna Bay, the largest undeveloped volcanogenic massive sulphide deposit in the Flin Flon Greenstone Belt. A March 2025 technical report outlined 38.6-million tonnes grading 2.02% copper-equivalent in the indicated category, with an additional 4.5-million tonnes grading 1.71% in the inferred category.
