TSX-V-listed uranium exploration company Stallion Uranium has appointed Matthew Schwab as CEO.

Schwab, a seasoned exploration geologist and executive, succeeds Drew Zimmermann, who will remain with the company as a board member.

Schwab, a Saskatonian, is renowned for his work in the uranium sector, with a notable career that includes significant contributions to the discovery and development of major uranium deposits. He previously served as senior geologist at NexGen Energy, where he was part of the team that discovered the high-grade Arrow uranium deposit in February 2014. Schwab’s expertise also extends to his role in Hathor Exploration, where he was a key member of the team responsible for the sale of the Roughrider uranium deposit to Rio Tinto for $654-million.

In more recent years, Schwab served as president and CEO of Kraken Energy, a CSE-listed uranium exploration company, where he successfully built a portfolio of high-value uranium properties in the southern US.

Outgoing CEO Zimmermann reflected on Stallion’s strategic shift into the uranium market two years ago, highlighting the company’s belief in the potential for a uranium renaissance driven by growing demand for nuclear energy. Under Zimmermann’s leadership, Stallion secured key landholdings in the underexplored south-western Athabasca basin and forged a joint venture with Atha Energy, making Stallion the holder of the largest land package in the region.

“Given that view, we established key landholdings in the underexplored south-western Athabasca basin and built on those initial claims through a JV with Atha Energy to hold the largest land package in the region with the sole focus of finding the next world class uranium deposit,” Zimmerman said.

Zimmermann praised the progress Stallion has made, transforming its landholdings from a relatively unknown area into nine Tier 1 exploration targets with significant discovery potential. He expressed confidence in Schwab’s ability to lead the company into its next phase of exploration.

“As Stallion moves into a more technical phase of exploration, I’m excited to announce that Matthew Schwab, with a history of discovery in the basin, will lead the team to drive that exploration success. I look forward to supporting the company in my new role as an active board member.”
