ASX-listed Haranga Resources’ subsidiary Mandinga Resources has been granted another renewal for the exploration permit on the Saraya uranium project, in Senegal.

The renewal of the exploration permit for an additional three years allows Haranga to continue future phases of exploration at Saraya, says Haranga MD Peter Batten.

The project currently hosts an indicated and inferred mineral resource of 14.5-million tonnes grading 550 ppm, for 17.6-million pounds of contained triuranium octoxide.

The Saraya permit area spans 1 235 km2 with a number of uranium anomalies across the entire project area. Haranga had to complete a 25% reduction of the surface area of the permit as part of the renewal process; however, the company assures there was no impact on the current or planned exploration programme as a result of the reduction.

In addition to the exploration permit renewal, an audit by the Senegal authorities has confirmed Haranga’s status as a responsible member of the resource industry, which validates the company’s commitments to the country to date.

Senegal undertook a nationwide audit of its extractive industries to improve transparency, enforce environmental obligations and combat corruption.

Haranga is now preparing to resume exploration activities across the updated Saraya permit, with new works set to build on prior results and focus on advanced auger and reverse circulation drilling on known anomalies.
