Hot Chili’s Chile projects earn strategic status from government
Australian copper developer Hot Chili has secured priority status from the Chilean government for two of its key projects.
The company’s flagship Costa Fuego copper/gold project, along with the complementary Huasco Water project, has been formally registered with Chile’s Office for Sustainable Project Management (GPS Division), under the Ministry of Economy. The designation places both developments on a fast track for permitting and administrative approvals.
"This is a significant endorsement from the Chilean government," said MD Christian Easterday. "It confirms that our projects meet the criteria for strategic investment status and are aligned with the country’s sustainability and economic development goals."
The registration allows Hot Chili to coordinate and oversee all permitting activity through a central platform, including the upcoming environmental-impact assessment submissions and maritime concession applications for Huasco Water. The GPS designation is reserved for projects that are expected to contribute meaningfully to Chile’s long-term sustainable growth.
Costa Fuego, recently confirmed as a top-quartile production-scale and low capital intensity copper project, forms the backbone of Hot Chili’s development strategy. A prefeasibility study released in March highlights its potential for multi-decade production.
Hot Chili also shared upcoming assay results from its La Verde discovery, the latest porphyry system to be integrated into the Costa Fuego hub.
The projects are now listed on Chile’s official investment platform.
