Innomotics, formerly Siemens Large Drives and Low Voltage Motors, will be making its first appearance at Electra Mining in September 2024. Innomotics combines more than 150 years of Siemens technology heritage and engineering expertise with an agile, innovative new company structure, and is ready to bring the benefits of this dynamic new player to bar in the mining industry.

With a global network of factories, engineering hubs and sales offices and a team of more than 15,000 experts, Innomotics is one of the world’s leading providers of electrical motors, geared motors, medium voltage drives and integrated solutions. While serving multiple industries, the company has a strong focus on the mining and cement industries, and this is particularly important in the African market.

Tim Walwyn, Country Chief Executive Officer explains "Innomotics South African headquarters in Midrand is home to an experienced team of electrical and automation engineers, as well as one of six global Digital Hubs conducting R&D and digital project execution". From this hub we are proud to support mining operations throughout sub-Saharan Africa to deliver on their business objectives throughout the project lifecycle from early engineering through construction and commissioning to O&M. We are proud of our continued investment in the South African market, with the most recent example being the relocation of our Geared Motors Assembly Center to a modern new facility in Midrand. This investment will enable us to improve delivery of custom-assembled units to customers in South Africa and beyond.

Electra Mining 24 presents the ideal opportunity to showcase the full extent of Innomotics offering for the mining industry, from traditional applications for motors and drives where we have more than a century of local experience, to cutting edge digital solutions that help customers to reach new levels of productivity while addressing the pressing challenges of climate change and pollution through enhanced energy efficiency and process improvement.

He further explains that Innomotics motors and drives have been developed to achieve high performance in the most critical applications in the harsh mining environment, including traction drives for mobile mining equipment, specialised drive trains for winders, material handling and comminution, and world-leading gearless technology for conveyors and large mills.

"Low voltage motors with the largest range of options available on the market, and meeting or exceeding the highest efficiency standards help to improve efficiency and reliability at every point in the mining process. Ongoing innovation in drive technology enables a range of functions that help mines to adapt to the challenges posed by an increasingly complex energy supply landscape as part of their energy transition plans."

He adds that as a preferred system integration partner for Siemens automation technology in mining, Innomotics engineers are able to consult, design and implement future-proof automation strategies for your plant. Whether clients prefer a traditional approach or a complete integrated engineering service incorporating the development of digital twins, simulation models and integrated advanced process control, our team is ready to provide professional and effective project support.

Innomotics highlights at Electra Mining:

Innomotics will be taking a bold step as a new independent brand at Electra Mining 2024 with our first solo appearance at Africa’s premier mining industry showcase.

Join us to discover more about our extensive offering for the mining industry where we will highlight the benefits of our innovative new brand built on a legacy of more than 150 years of Siemens market leadership

"We are particularly excited to launch our Pit-to-Port showcase at this year’s Electra Mining," Walwyn says.

This unique element will underline the opportunities for performance improvement throughout the mining value chain through the use of appropriate digital technologies from the Innomotics DigiMine portfolio.

DigiMine Lineup is the short interval control system that ensures schedule compliance, optimal resource allocation, and real-time status monitoring for mining activities. With DigiMine ProcessTwin, plant operators can harness the power of simulation to optimise material handling equipment performance. Stockyard operations can be made safer and more cost effective, while simultaneously reducing investment in stockholding through the use of the DigiMine YardMaster stockyard automation and quality tracking system.  The LifeCycle and CoPilot offerings deliver a holistic concept for plant engineering, commissioning and maintenance to reduce startup costs and extend the plant lifecycle. Finally, DigiMine AssetAnalytics modules for critical equipment offer AI-enhanced anomaly detection and analysis for improved uptime of key equipment.

The Innomotics Pit-to-Port application provides a seamless platform for integration of information across the entire value chain to enable operators to make the best possible decisions. By removing silos and providing complete transparency, including integration of any legacy systems, Pit-to-Port unlocks hidden value in complex operations.

"We look forward to welcoming visitors to our booth in Hall 7 at Electra Mining 2024 to discover reliable motion for a better mining future."
