Australia-listed Kalamazoo Resources has appointed mining executive Andrew McDougall as CEO with effect from May 4.

McDougall has more than 25 years of global operational and technical leadership experience across gold and diversified mining operations. He most recently served as chief technical officer at Westgold Resources.

His previous roles include senior leadership positions at Anglo American, AngloGold Ashanti and Rio Tinto, where he gained extensive experience in asset strategy, mine planning studies, capital allocation and project execution.

Executive chairperson Luke Reinehr said McDougall’s appointment came at an important stage in the evolution of the company’s Ashburton Gold Project, which hosts a 1.44-million-ounce gold resource.

“We are delighted to welcome Andrew to Kalamazoo at an important stage in the evolution of our 1.44-million-ounce Ashburton gold project,” Reinehr said.

He added that McDougall’s technical capability, project experience and disciplined approach to feasibility and asset strategy would strengthen the company as it progressed the project’s prefeasibility study, while also advancing its Victorian gold/antimony projects and Western Australian exploration assets.

“Kalamazoo is entering a phase of disciplined growth, and Andrew’s leadership positions the company strongly as we move toward feasibility completion, continued exploration success and creating long-term value for shareholders,” Reinehr said.
