Liontown secures short-term offtake for Kathleen Valley
Australia’s Liontown Resources has executed a new offtake agreement for the supply of spodumene concentrate from its Kathleen Valley lithium project, in Western Australia.
The short-term offtake agreement provides for the supply of up to 100 000 dry metric tonnes of spodumene concentrate over ten months, starting by September 30.
The latest offtake agreement is with Beijing Sinomine International Trade and is in addition to existing long-term offtake contracts with Tesla, LG Energy Solution and Ford, which will be progressively brought into effect over the next 12 months as Kathleen Valley ramps up to full production.
“Securing a near-term offtake with an established lithium refiner to sell initial volumes over the ramp-up period, derisks sales during our ramp-up of the plant towards nameplate capacity,” said MD and CEO Tony Ottaviano.
Kathleen Valley will initially be a three-million-tonne-a-year operation and has the potential to be expanded to four-million tonnes a year.
