A US-based original-equipment manufacturer (OEM) holds bearings manufacturer Vesconite Bearings in high regard, given its products’ durability and versatility in challenging conditions, including those involving dirty and hot water, marine environments and chemicals, says the OEM’s pump development engineer.

Hence, this OEM has used Vesconite low-friction, wear-resistant materials in its product lines for several decades.

The engineer explains that small particulates found in pumped fluid or media, typically particulates encountered in rivers and mines, can cause excessive bearing wear. To counter this issue, the company employs a flushing method using a small supply of clean water, while consistently opting for Vesconite’s bearings, owing to their reliability.

Vesconite Bearings CEO Dr Jean-Patrick Leger and pump engineer Joané Odendaal recently engaged with the development engineer, who is a stalwart of the US pump manufacturing sector and has a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Texas Tech University.

The engineer recalls first being introduced to Vesconite by a US pump representative in 2004. Since that time, Vesconite bearings have replaced traditional materials like rubber and bronze in the OEM’s products, offering “enhanced performance and cost-effectiveness”.

He expresses that the company’s long-term experience with Vesconite has yielded positive results, confirming that Vesconite’s solutions have “consistently matched or exceeded” the performance of previous materials used in its equipment.

Looking to the future, the OEM anticipates further opportunities to integrate Vesconite into its upcoming projects, having long since recognised the benefits of this partnership.

The engineer commends the quality of Vesconite products and the company’s “helpful” client services, underscoring the value of the collaboration in successfully addressing demanding engineering applications.
