British Columbia miners warn of some disruption following heavy rains

Transportation routes to dual-listed miner New Gold’s New Afton mine, in British Columbia, have been affected by the recent heavy rains, flooding and mudslides.

However, the flooding, has up until this point, had no material impact on New Afton's infrastructure and operations.

New Gold on November 19 said the company would continue to monitor the situation closely and assess the impact of these events on New Afton and the implementation of mitigation measures.

Any potential impact to production, sales or costs at the New Afton mine will depend on the duration of the disruption to the transportation routes, it said.

TSX- and NYSE-listed Centerra Gold, meanwhile, informed its shareholders that the heavy rain, flooding and mudslides in British Columbia has temporarily disrupted rail services between the Vancouver west coast terminals and the company's Mount Milligan mine.

The disruption affects the movement of Mount Milligan’s concentrate to the Vancouver terminals, as well as the delivery of some parts and consumables to the mine.

"Production at the Mount Milligan Mine has not been impacted at this time; however, the overall impact on production and sales will be dependent on, among other things, the duration of the rail disruption.

"Centerra is focused on protecting the health and safety of employees and contractors and we are continuing to closely monitor the situation," it said.
