New lubricants better align with global trends

ANDREW COWLING Cowling asserts that the range of oils and lubricants on offer from FUCHS can be beneficial for various industries and sectors
In its attempts to stay abreast of some of the most innovative solutions in the sector, oils and lubricants company FUCHS LUBRICANTS South Africa is making significant investments in biodegradable, low-carbon lubricants in line with global trends driven by environmental, social and governance practices, as well as demands for better efficiency, digitisation and sustainability.
FUCHS sales director Andrew Cowling notes that the company provides numerous products for the enhancement and/or maintenance of equipment, fleet and machinery used by various industries, businesses and the mining sector.
He adds that the company’s efforts to remain on trend and create innovative products is evident in its latest offering of advanced oils and lubricants.
“FUCHS offers a range of products, from engine and hydraulic oils to specialty greases and service fluids, all designed to minimise wear, reduce friction, and extend machinery lifespan,” he says.
For example, Cowling notes that the TITAN range of engine oils – which includes BluEV products for electric vehicles and BluEV Technology for hybrid vehicles – ensures enhanced fuel efficiency, protection from wear-and-tear, and ultimately offers an extended service life for high-performance engines.
The company also offers high-performance lubrication products for heavy-duty applications, namely the CEPLATTYN, RENOLIT, and RENOLIN lubricant ranges.
Cowling notes that the company’s RENOLIT CSX ULTRA calcium sulphonate grease exceeds original-equipment manufacturer standards at a “reasonable cost”, in terms of offering “superior” high-temperature capabilities.
He highlights that clients can use a simple lithium grease for temperatures of about 190 °C, and lithium complex greases for temperatures up to 260 °C.
Further, FUCHS also accommodates applications and operations in the agricultural industry through the provision of its AGRIFARM lubricants product range, which includes the AGRIFARM UTTO FLEX – a lubricant that improves reliability in harsh agricultural environments.
The product affords agricultural and farming practitioners the ability to protect machinery through efficient lubrication.
Additionally, FUCHS products are machine- and application-specific, ensuring that clients can choose an oil or lubricant that is best-suited to a specific application.
“Carefully evaluating the type of machinery, its operational environment, and use patterns are critical when selecting a lubricant. Different machines have unique requirements based on factors such as load, speed, temperature, and exposure to contaminants,” Cowling explains.
For Cowling, the aim is to enable consistent equipment and machinery operation through proper lubrication and an efficient maintenance plan, which will lead to reduced operating costs and reduced energy consumption for clients.
The company also prides itself on offering timely maintenance services to ensure that clients’ operations run smoothly.
“FUCHS offers expert technical support to help customers assess these and other factors to recommend the ideal product, thereby ensuring that machinery operates at peak efficiency, while reducing maintenance costs,” he concludes.
