Patriot Battery discovers new spodumene pegmatite cluster
Dual-listed Patriot Battery Metals has discovered a new spodumene pegmatite cluster, named CV15, at its wholly owned Shaakichiuwaanaan property in Quebec’s Eeyou Istchee James Bay region.
The find extends the prospective Mickel trend to about 5.5 km, enhancing the project's lithium potential.
Surface sampling at CV15 returned high-grade lithium oxide (Li2O) values, including 2.11%, 1.55%, and 1.02% from outcrop grab samples. Nearby boulders yielded even higher assays of 3.10% and 3.02% Li2O. The newly identified cluster consists of multiple pegmatite outcrops covering about 400 m by 200 m, with the largest exposure measuring about 7 m by 6 m. The discovery remains open in all directions.
The Mickel trend hosts the CV9, CV10, and CV14 pegmatites, with only CV9 having been drill-tested to date. Intercepts at CV9 include 99.9 m at 0.39% Li2O and 30.6 m at 0.80% Li2O, confirming the presence of widespread spodumene mineralisation.
The Shaakichiuwaanaan property holds a consolidated mineral resource estimate of 80.1-million tonnes at 1.44% Li2O in the indicated category and 62.5-million tonnes at 1.31% Li2O inferred.
The flagship CV5 pegmatite is accessible via an all-season road and lies 14 km from a major hydroelectric powerline corridor.
Patriot’s 2024 surface exploration campaign included geological mapping, prospecting, and sampling across the property, with 647 surface rock grab and chip samples collected. The company continues to assess drill targets along the Mickel Trend, with further exploration planned to expand known lithium resources.
