In existence since July 1990, Prothane Industrial started production with castable polyurethane products, expanding later to high tech polyurethane spraying products, rubber lining and various other wear and corrosive protection elements manufactured from polymers, through its intellectual property, Polycombo.

It pursues policies which are fair, non-discriminatory and in compliance with all best practice procedures, legislation and client requirements, which are reinforced and supported by its ISO 9001:2015 management systems.

Its products have excellent wear characteristics with applications in the mining, engineering and agricultural industries. Prothane Industrial’s com-prehensive facilities enable it to develop any product to suit customer needs.

The company has developed a unique mining slurry pump impeller which is of particular interest to cost-conscious managers. The Polycombo impeller range has proven to be superior to original equipment manufacturer (OEM) supplied impellers in many applications and has a proven track record in sub-Saharan African mining conditions with longer component life of the impeller and associated bearing trains, effectively lowering the total cost of ownership.

The material is ozone and UV resistant, thus capable of being stored outside in all weather conditions. Polycombo impellers are acid and alkali resistant with the added benefit of very low wear rates. Material modulus inhibits liquid absorption and thus permits high tip speeds and effective high-pressure operation. Unlike other elastomers, the manufacturing process enables component balancing to be performed, substantially enhancing the smooth operation of the pump unit with operation to failure point now possible. The lower unit mass holds promise for substantial electrical cost savings to customers with lower safety risk issues on installation and removal. End users have found lifetime extended from three to eight times that of OEM and competitor suppliers, resulting in substantial reductions in inventory costs.

Polycombo impellers are dynamically balanced to 5 g and also come in at a fraction of the total weight of OEM impellers. OEM impellers have been found to be imbalanced up to 2 kg which results in lower bearing assembly life and higher power requirements to achieve the same flow output.

Nothing beats a real wear problem like Prothane Industrial’s unique range of products and services.
