Transnet Port Terminals (TPT) has announced that the Saldanha Iron Ore Terminal’s ten-day planned maintenance shutdown started on September 28.

Every year, the State-owned freight utility conducts inspection and repair work to ensure the electrical, mechanical and structural integrity of its port infrastructure.

About 60-million tonnes of iron-ore a year from the Northern Cape are handled at TPT’s terminals.
