Project Description
The facility will produce high-purity, molten salt coolant for Kairos Power advanced reactors, starting with the Hermes low-power demonstration reactor in Oak Ridge, Tennessee.
The facility will use a proprietary chemical process to produce high-purity ‘Flibe’ enriched in Lithium-7 meeting the stringent specifications to be used in a reactor. Flibe is a chemically stable mixture of lithium fluoride and beryllium fluoride, which contributes to Kairos Power’s fluoride salt-cooled, high-temperature reactor technology’s inherent safety, and simplifies its design.
The unique heat-transfer medium enables the reactor to operate at low pressure and plays a crucial role in radiological containment.

Kairos Power expects to create 20 to 30 full-time, high paying jobs to support the construction and operation of the facility.
