Sand King underground gold project, Australia
Name of the Project
Sand King underground gold project.
Location
Eastern Goldfields region of Western Australia.
Project Owner/s
Ora Banda Mining.
Project Description
The project forms part of Ora Banda’s Davyhurst gold project.
The underground mine design is premised on a conventional top-down longhole open stoping mining method commonly used in the Western Australian goldfields, with production estimated 60 000 oz/y of gold.
Mining equipment will be mechanised, with planned equipment to include electric-hydraulic drills for development and production, and rubber-tyred loaders and trucks for load-and-haul activities.
The mine design comprises one main access portal, and a second vent adit that will be mined from underground, breaking back into the Sand King pit.
Both will be located in the fresh-rock portion of the existing pit wall, owing to the improved ground conditions that prevail there.
