With the combined issues of population growth and climate change as well as water supplies becoming more and more tricky to manage, important solutions to these many challenges are the treatment of sewage and effluent.

Therefore, tank manufacturer SBS Tanks is proud to partner with water service provider Sembcorp Siza Water in one of South Africa’s flagship sewage treatment plants. Based in Ballito, north of Durban, in KwaZulu-Natal, this treatment facility handles 27.3 Mℓ of water a day and uses high-quality biotechnology to treat the sewage and effluent.

After a major upgrade, the facility needed new water reservoirs to be installed and SBS Tanks was able to provide a temporary one-million litre storage tank within three weeks, while taking only eight weeks to install one 3.1-million litre water storage tank and one two-million litre storage tank that will store the recycled and treated potable water. These tanks meet world-class industry standards, and the highest international trade quality ratings.

The facility recycles most of the region’s wastewater into drinkable water that achieves Blue Drop Status – the regulatory tool used by the Department of Water Affairs to monitor Drink Water Quality.

SBS Tanks believes that effective management of sewage and effluent will drastically reduce the amount of water that gets wasted on a daily basis.
