Strong and sustainable: ArcelorMittal showcases steel solutions with low CO2-emissions at Bauma
Whether you need steel for sheet pile walls, excavator shovels, cable cars or more, ArcelorMittal will be represented at Bauma in Munich from April 7 to 13 with all relevant business units. The teams of experts from the long, flat and tubular divisions will be providing information on the most important steel solutions for the construction and construction machinery industries at the world's largest exhibition in terms of space. The focus is on high-strength, lightweight and wear-resistant steels with a CO2 footprint reduced by up to 81% depending on the product, verifiable through certified environmental product declarations. The Sheet Piling and Wire departments will be exhibiting in Hall C5, stand 338, while the Flat and Tubular Products segments will be at Stand 518 in Hall A6 together with Industeel.
XCarb® technology for the entire product range
The decarbonisation of steel solutions already established on the market is a central topic at Bauma. Thanks to extensive technology adjustments, ArcelorMittal can offer its complete product range – with the same high quality – with a significantly reduced carbon footprint. Steels manufactured under the XCarb® label emit can emit up to 81% less CO2 depending on the product. These steels are produced in an electric arc furnace (EAF) using a high scrap content and 100% renewable electricity. In line with the circular economy, many of these products can be reused multiple times and are fully recyclable when they are taken out of service. With the XCarb® initiative, ArcelorMittal is combining all its decarbonisation initiatives with the goal of achieving net zero by 2050.
Film: How sheet piles save lives
At Stand 338, Hall C5, ArcelorMittal's sheet pile unit will be presenting resilient, sustainable and smart steel foundation solutions. Climate change has increased the need for flood and coastal protection. The film “Sheet piles can save lives” will be shown at the stand to highlight the importance of engineered sheet piling systems for the protection against natural hazards. The results of a comparative study on underground car parks in Germany will highlight the benefits of the EcoSheetPile™ Plus range against alternative materials. This study will also highlight the use of low carbon-emissions steel, featured as part of the XCarb® recycled and renewably produced brand. The SmartSheetPile solution uses sensors, digital twins and AI, for example, to ensure greater safety, durability and reliability.
From the seabed to the ski lift: at the same stand, colleagues from the wire department will be showing corresponding hoist and mining ropes that not only guarantee the highest level of safety but are also produced with significantly lower CO2 emissions. Trade visitors can take a closer look at the hoist and mining models.
Sheets, plates and tubes: Stand 518, Hall A6
In Hall A6, Stand 518, the specialist teams for sheets, plates and tubes will be presenting the latest news in their product ranges. These include Creusabro®, a highly wear-resistant steel with a lifespan that can be twice as long as that of conventional water-quenched steel. The proven Amstrong® and Relia® grades in a range of dimensions and thicknesses can be adapted to a wide variety of customer needs. At Bauma, the steel tubular solutions experts will be presenting structured hollow sections and precision tubes for demanding construction and engineering applications.
