United Mining Services Group: Value driven solutions to the mining and minerals processing markets

United Mining Services (UMS) Group, incorporating the internationally recognised Mining Engineering Technical Services (METS) and SHAFT SINKERS brands, is a leader in the mining and minerals processing sectors.

METS and SHAFT SINKERS, both 60-year-old brands, have pioneered many industry innovations and have been integrally linked to the development of the South African mining industry over the decades.

Established in 2015, the UMS Group has developed specialised capabilities to
design and build new mines and processing plants, from concept through to construction, commissioning, ramp-up and operation – all under one roof.

The Group provides clients with a single source contractor for the design, costing and scheduling of a project, allowing for seamless integration between project phases, greater cost and scheduling accuracy and reduced risk for clients.

Through its library of technical knowledge and experience spanning six decades, UMS can solve most mining and minerals processing and underground construction challenges and its management and technical teams include globally-recognised mining industry experts.

The Group’s highly-skilled staff include professional engineers specialising in the mining, mechanical, electrical, control and instrumentation, civil, structural and design spheres; project engineers and managers; sinking specialists; project planners and schedulers; natural scientists, specialising in geology and rock mechanics, as well as experts in project control and procurement.

Through its Integrated Management Sys-tem, UMS rigorously monitors the safety performance and quality of all its projects and has achieved ISO certification based on the following international standards: ISO 14001 – environmental management systems, ISO 9001 – quality management systems and ISO 45001 – occupational health and safety management systems. The Group’s
extensive plant facility maintains special-
ised equipment to the highest standards.

With its head office in Woodmead Johannesburg, the Group is currently undertaking numerous projects for mining and metallurgical processing clients in South Africa, Botswana, the US and Brazil.

Ingenuity in solving tomorrow’s mining and minerals processing challenges today!
