Canada-based Vizsla Silver has confirmed that ten people had been abducted from its Panuco project in Mexico.

The TSX- and NYSE-listed company said in a statement on Thursday that the incident was under investigation and that information remained limited.

Local authorities have been notified, and the company’s crisis management and security response teams have been activated and are actively engaged.

Vizsla said its immediate priority was the safety and wellbeing of the individuals involved.

As a precautionary measure, certain activities at and near the project site have been temporarily suspended while investigations continue.

The company added that it would provide further updates as more information became available.

The Panuco project is located in the state of Sinaloa, Mexico, and is Vizsla’s flagship silver/gold development asset.
