Volt achieves first lithium production
The Permian Basin is one of North America’s largest oil and gas producing basins, with about 19-million barrels of lithium infused water produced every day.
TSX-V-listed Volt Lithium has started US field operations in the Permian basin in Texas, shifting from development to production.
The first lithium production milestone, president and CEO Alex Wylie says, establishes the company as a leader in direct lithium extraction (DLE) from North American oilfield brines.
Volt brought online its proprietary DLE US field unit in the Permian basin on September 17, positioning the company on a clear path to full-scale commercialisation.
Underpinned by its low operating cost structure, Volt is poised for long-term, cost-effective growth as it continues to scale up its US operations.
Wylie says Volt’s focus over the remainder of the year will be to scale up operations to build an inventory of lithium concentrate and lithium carbonate for future commercial sales.
