Wedge belts transmit 30% more power
Industrial equipment supplier BMG’s extensive range of industrial belting manufacturer Fenner’s power transmission components encompasses high-performance Fenner Quattro Plus Twin Wrapped (QPTW) wedge belts, which transmit 30% more power than standard Fenner drivebelts.
Suitable for counter-bending, back-tensioners and clutches, BMG’s Fenner Quattro Plus QPTW belts can withstand an extended temperature range of between -30 °C and 80 °C.
“These maintenance-free wedge belts, with a wrapped chloroprene rubber construction, have a two-ply higher modulus polyester cord outer jacket to reduce belt elongation and improve stability in tough operating conditions,” says BMG power transmission division product manager Westnar van der Westhuizen.
Fenner Quattro Plus QPTW belts are suitable for harsh African conditions and, owing to their maintenance-free feature, are advantageous where skilled labour is scarce.
“It is common for us to see belts prone to downtime and requiring maintenance, simply because they are unable to withstand demanding operating conditions,” he notes.
Conventional belts in dusty environments often stretch unevenly, slip and jump out of pulley grooves, while extreme temperatures can even cause belts to melt, explains Van der Westhuizen.
However, by installing appropriate belts designed to adapt to specific applications and environmental conditions, maintenance staff can focus more on preventative maintenance rather than reactive measures, he asserts.
With an asymmetric weave double jacket, Fenner Quattro Plus QPTW belts are heat- and oil-resistant, offering increased durability and improved abrasion resistance in harsh conditions.
Further, they provide high performance, improved drive efficiency and extended service life, with up to 96% energy efficiency at optimal performance.
These flexible belts require no equipment dismantling as they are designed for easy installation as permanent replacements with reduced downtime.
Further, Fenner’s Precision Build technology eliminates the need for matching.
The belts are well-suited for heavy industrial applications such as crushers, heavy-duty conveyors, waste compactors and pumps.
