Aim-listed AfriTin Mining, with a portfolio of mining and exploration assets in Namibia, has appointed Hiten Ooka CFO.

This is a non-board appointment.

He succeeds Robert Sewell, who has stepped down as CFO to pursue other opportunities. Sewell, will, however, remain as a consultant to the company in the short term to ensure a smooth transition process.

Ooka, a qualified chartered accountant, joins the company from Bushveld Minerals, where he was group head of finance.

Prior to this, he spent 12 years holding senior management roles at Rand Uranium, Trafigura and Eurasian Resource Group.

His operational experience having worked for multinational organisations, coupled with his technical, finance and tax experience, will further strengthen AfriTin’s executive team, the company says.

“I am excited to welcome Hiten to the team. We look forward to his contributions to the company as it continues its progress in becoming what we believe will become one of the largest tech and green-energy metals mining companies.

“Hiten brings an impressive operational and technical record to AfriTin at this important juncture for the company. His experience will be vital as the company expands its strategic resources, to bring its lithium and tantalum streams into production and complement the already successful tin operations.

"The company thanks Robert for his contributions and wishes him every success in his future endeavours,” CEO Anthony Viljoen says.
