Amaroq beats midpoint of gold production guidance at Nalunaq in commissioning year

Mine development company Amaroq has reported year-end gold production of about 6 600 oz from its Nalunaq gold mine, in southern Greenland, as at January 1, exceeding the midpoint of its yearly guidance range of 6 000 oz to 7 000 oz during the project’s commissioning year.

The company said on January 8 that the production figure is preliminary and subject to final refinery assessment, but places output above the centre of its stated target range for 2025.

Amaroq added that mining and processing rates are expected to remain consistent into 2026.

Nalunaq is Amaroq’s flagship operation and was in a commissioning phase during 2025. The company said production performance improved following the completion of a shutdown in the fourth quarter of 2025 and the subsequent restart of operations. According to the company, both the processing unit and mining activities have since performed in line with expectations for Phase 1 of the project.

Amaroq also confirmed that the final impact benefit agreement (IBA) for the Nalunaq gold mine has been awarded. The agreement is a requirement for mining operations in Greenland and sets out the framework for benefits to local communities and stakeholders.

“In what has been a commissioning year for our Nalunaq mine in southern Greenland . . . gold production came above the midpoint of the guidance range. Since completion of the shutdown in quarter four of 2025 and restart of operations, the processing unit and mining operations have performed well, in line with our expectations for Phase 1 and with a target to increase the recovery factor up to about 90%, once Phase 2 is complete, in quarter two of 2026,” Amaroq CEO Eldur Olafsson said.

He noted that the final IBA for the Nalunaq mine being approved was a significant milestone, not only for Amaroq but also for the developing mining industry in Greenland.

The company said Phase 2 commissioning was expected to be completed in the second quarter, after which it aims to lift gold recovery rates to about 90%. Amaroq said production guidance and its budget for 2026 would be released in late February.
