Western Australia-focused Meeka Metals’ Murchison gold project is fully approved, paving the way for development to get under way.

The company has now started construction of the haul road between the processing plant and the openpit mining area, allowing for mining to start early in 2025.

Work on the accommodation village and office infrastructure is also continuing and will accelerate with all approvals in place. The camp is set to be commissioned in December.

Meeka plans to start openpit mining in March. It will also reassess and establish services to the high-grade Andy Well underground mine by the third month of next year.

According to the company’s timeline, the process plant will be commissioned by the middle of the year.

The Murchison definitive feasibility study focuses on restarting the fully permitted Andy Well mill. The study outlines a straightforward development strategy and strong financial outcomes, including post-tax net cash flows of A$413-million, an aftertax net present value, using an 8% discount, of A$244-million and an aftertax internal rate of return of 100% over an initial nine-year production plan.
