Brightstar surpasses expectations in maiden processing campaign
Gold miner Brightstar Resources on Tuesday reported stronger-than-expected results from its maiden processing campaign at Genesis Minerals’ Laverton mill, reinforcing the company's production growth ambitions.
The campaign, completed under an ore purchase agreement with Genesis, processed 56 449 t of ore between March 7 and March 15.
The reconciled blended head grade of 2.51 g/t of gold exceeded the initial estimate of more than 2.0 g/t, with a recovery rate of 94.25%, resulting in 4 297 oz of gold produced.
“The reconciled blended head grade and high recovery rate exceeded our expectations, positioning Brightstar to capitalise on record Australian dollar gold prices as we scale up our operations,” Brightstar MD Alex Rovira said.
The company is preparing a second processing parcel for May, with ongoing haulage from the Second Fortune underground mine and Lord Byron openpit stockpiles.
Development of the Fish underground mine remains on budget and on schedule, with first ore expected in June.
Meanwhile, Brightstar is progressing its definitive feasibility study on the broader Laverton-Menzies development strategy, set for delivery in the first half of 2025. The study will outline the company's path to becoming a multi-mine ASX-listed gold producer.
In addition to mining and development activities, Brightstar has two reverse circulation drill rigs active at its Sandstone and Menzies projects, advancing exploration efforts to support future production growth.
