Schneider Electric, the global leader in energy management and automation, and recognised sustainability leader, is proud to announce that CGI (Controlgear Instramac) has officially been recognised as a Certified Alliance Partner for the Mining, Minerals, and Metals (MMM) industries, and has also joined its Distribution Hub and Pro Retailer Programme.

The Certified MMM badge is awarded to system integrators (SIs) who demonstrate exceptional technical expertise and a proven track record in delivering innovative industrial automation solutions using Schneider Electric’s advanced technologies. The certification further strengthens the longstanding collaboration between Schneider Electric and CGI.

As a certified partner, CGI has undergone rigorous training and certification processes, ensuring its team is equipped with the skills, knowledge, and capabilities to offer expert industrial automation solutions to clients operating in demanding environments

Speaking at the certification ceremony, held at CGI’s headquarters in Johannesburg, Gauteng, Barry Coetzee, Director of CGI highlighted the importance of collaboration and fortified partnerships: “We are pleased to have been recognised by Schneider Electric; we have worked hard to reach this point and becoming an official Certified Alliance Partner is undoubtedly the culmination of this journey.”

“This certificate not only highlights CGI's commitment to excellence in the MMM sector, it also demonstrates how teamwork delivers tangible benefits. We are excited to continue delivering innovative solutions in partnership with Schneider Electric,” he added.

Johan Pretorius, MMM Segment Lead, Anglophone Africa at Schneider Electric, echoed Coetzee’s sentiment: “CGI has been a key partner for us over the past three years – and in truth, the relationship stretches even further back. This milestone reflects the strong collaboration between our teams to support more sustainable operations across the sector.

“As an MMM Certified Alliance Partner, CGI is now fully trained and certified across all relevant mining industry solutions, including steel, cement, and glass. This achievement supports our joint commitment to localisation and advancing industrial innovation together.”

The announcement also marked CGI’s induction into Schneider Electric’s Distribution Hub and Pro Retailer Programme, a strategic initiative aimed at improving the accessibility of company’s products and solutions across South Africa.

Ahmed El-Besary, Vice President, Channel Sales and Marketing, Anglophone Africa at Schneider Electric, further applauded the partnership: “We are celebrating not just certification, but a shared journey of innovation. As a Schneider Electric Hub, CGI is now representing us across the South African market, offering end-to-end solutions to a broad customer base.

“This certification gives customers confidence in both the solutions offered and the trusted channel delivering them. We look forward to even greater success with the CGI team.”

This dual recognition positions CGI as an important player in South Africa’s industrial and commercial landscape, delivering technical excellence in MMM, while also serving as a key channel for distribution and retail across Schneider Electric’s vast portfolio.
