JSE-listed Impala Platinum Holdings (Implats) has advised that it will consolidate the operations of its Impala Platinum and Impala Bafokeng Resources (IBR) subsidiaries, in response to low prevailing rand platinum group metal (PGM) pricing and to secure the long-term sustainability of both subsidiaries.

The consolidation will align the legal structure with the current reporting lines in place and facilitate and progress the realisation of synergies between the two operations.

The group expects that, over time, the consolidation will contribute to improved profitability.

There is no cash consideration attributable to the exercise, nor will the shareholder composition change of any entity as a result of the consolidation.

IBR will transfer its entire business, comprising the exploration development and mining of PGMs and activities related thereto, including its assets and liabilities, to Impala as a going concern.
