Gold/copper explorer Kincora Copper has bolstered its leadership with the appointment of veteran geologist Brent Cook and mining executive Laurie Thomas as strategic advisers, as the ASX- and TSX-V-listed junior looks to accelerate exploration and advance its hybrid project generator model.

The formation of the advisory board follows an oversubscribed non-brokered placement earlier this year, cornerstoned by leading North American natural resource investors Rick Rule and Jeff Phillips.

“Kincora is delighted to have attracted such a high calibre advisory board to expand and strengthen our team,” president and CEO Sam Spring and chairperson Cameron McRae said in a joint statement. “The additions of Brent and Laurie assist accelerate and increase recognition of our multi element and asset portfolio strategy to create shareholder value.”

Cook, a globally recognised economic geologist with more than 40 years’ experience, is best known as founder of the Exploration Insights newsletter and for his work on porphyry copper and epithermal gold systems across major belts from the Circum-Pacific to the Lachlan Fold Belt. He has consulted for companies including Rio Tinto, Barrick Gold, Freeport-McMoRan and Newmont, and held senior roles in capital markets with Rick Rule’s Global Resource Investments.

Thomas, a seasoned executive with a background in finance, investor relations and governance, brings extensive relationships in the North American capital markets. She currently serves as a director and audit committee chair at F3 Uranium Corporation and previously held board and leadership roles across Saskatchewan’s accounting and First Nations investment sectors.

Alongside the board appointments, Kincora confirmed the exercise of 78 000 stock options from its September 2023 financing and 67 000 warrants from its July 2025 financing.

Kincora is advancing a portfolio of gold/copper assets in Australia’s Lachlan Fold Belt and Mongolia’s Southern Gobi, as well as the historic Condobolin mining field in New South Wales’ Cobar basin. The company has already secured more than $100-million in potential partner funding, supporting 13 500 m of drilling and A$6.5-million of partner-backed exploration since late 2024.
