Schneider Electric, the global leader in energy management and automation, and recognised sustainability leader, congratulates Prospero Muheki, recipient of this year’s Schneider Electric Automation Student Award at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits).

The award, sponsored for the eighth consecutive year by Schneider Electric, celebrates the top achievement in the field of Measurement and Control, honouring the final-year Electrical Engineering student with the highest academic performance or most outstanding final-year project in this field.

The award was presented to Muheki by Tanya Ramlagan, Vice President of Human Resources for English-speaking Africa at Schneider Electric, during Wits’ annual Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment Prizegiving Ceremony at the Great Hall in Johannesburg.

“We are delighted to recognise Prospero Muheki’s excellence and exceptional potential. This award reflects Schneider Electric’s ongoing commitment to nurturing engineering talent and fostering innovation across Africa,” says Ramlagan.

The Schneider Electric Automation Student Award forms part of the company’s broader Students and Young Professionals programme, which includes bursaries, internships, and the global Go Green Competition—a sustainability challenge that empowers students to develop real-world energy solutions for local communities.

As part of his award, Muheki will receive two complimentary training courses at the Schneider Electric Training Academy in Midrand, Johannesburg, preparing him to contribute to Africa’s evolving energy and automation landscape.
