Products and solutions such as the Blue gas-insulated switchgear (GIS), Internet-of-Things-based decision-making tools and digital integration process technologies are only a few of the “state-of-the-art technologies” on display at technology giant Siemens South Africa’s stand at Enlit Africa 2025.

Siemens will also be highlighting its holistic Security Circle offering and its robust communication networks, which are designed to enhance operational resilience and cybersecurity.

“Our stand will feature interactive displays of our cutting-edge technologies and solutions for the energy sector,” says Siemens South Africa sub-Saharan Africa CEO Sabine Dall’Omo, adding that Siemens representatives will be at the event to engage with attendees and discuss how Siemens can support their energy needs.

On Topic

“I hope to highlight how our solutions are designed to maximise grid performance, boost productivity, enhance grid capacity and improve operational resilience, all contributing to a sustainable and inclusive energy future for Africa,” she tells Engineering News.

Siemens representatives will cover various topics such as real-time monitoring, smart automation, intelligent energy flow management and clean energy integration.

“These sessions will demonstrate how our interoperable, flexible and open technologies can make digital transformation easier, faster and more impactful for African utilities,” lauds Dall’Omo.

Additionally, these sessions will provide valuable insights into how its technologies are enhancing digital transformation, particularly in areas relating to grid optimisation and cybersecurity.

Engaging Enlit Elite

Dall’Omo points out that events such as Enlit Africa are crucial for driving the transition to a more sustainable future.

Importantly, these events provide a platform for industry leaders, policymakers and stakeholders to share knowledge, collaborate on innovative solutions and address the pressing challenges facing the energy sector.

By fostering dialogue and partnerships, these events help accelerate the transition to sustainable, reliable and inclusive energy systems.

“We hope to achieve several key takeaways from the event, including strengthening partnerships with African utilities, showcasing our latest technological innovations, and demonstrating our commitment to supporting Africa’s energy transition,” she says.

Further, Siemens aims to highlight the benefits of its scalable digital solutions and how they can help utilities maximise grid performance, enhance productivity and support clean energy integration.

As part of the company’s ethos, it is always looking to the future and exploring new ways to meet the continent’s energy needs.

“This year, we’ll introduce new initiatives focused on enhancing grid flexibility and resilience, as well as expand our efforts in renewable energy and digitalisation.”

Dall’Omo emphasises that, across Africa, power utilities are facing some serious challenges, adding that “with the rapid growth of distributed energy resources, fluctuating electricity demand and limited grid infrastructure, operators are under a lot of pressure”.

Siemens strives to lead the charge in Africa’s energy transition through helping grid operators tackle complexity, improve integration, and optimise capacity.

“This perfectly aligns with Enlit’s mission to address the evolving energy landscape. Our scalable digital solutions are tailored to Africa’s unique needs, driving a shift towards autonomous, net-zero-ready grids that support inclusive development and economic growth,” states Dall’Omo.

This year’s Enlit will be held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre from May 20 to 22.
