Talga, SQM end Swedish Aero project JV

Battery materials company Talga Group and Sociedad Química y Minera de Chile (SQM) have mutually agreed to terminate their joint venture (JV) agreement over the Aero project in Sweden.

The decision follows the non-fulfilment of a condition precedent by Sweden’s Inspectorate for Strategic Products, the country’s foreign direct investment authority, within a reasonable timeframe.

The termination takes immediate effect, prior to the start of any formal JV activities, and neither party will incur any liabilities, consistent with the original JV terms announced in June last year, said Talga on Friday.

Located in northern Sweden, the Aero project hosts critical minerals including gallium, caesium, and lithium, first identified through Talga’s surface geochemical sampling programmes. The company recently completed additional surface work during the European summer, with results now being finalised.

Talga said it planned to advance discussions with other interested parties to explore new opportunities and potential partnerships for the project.
