Tivan awarded NT exploration grants for Sandover fluorite project

ASX-listed Tivan said on Friday that it had secured exploration grant funding from the Northern Territory government for its Sandover fluorite project.

The firm was awarded a total of A$150 000 under Round 18 of the Geophysics and Drilling Collaborations programme, part of the Resourcing the Territory initiative. The funding will support a maiden reverse circulation drilling campaign and early-stage metallurgical testwork.

The Sandover project, located about 230 km north-east of Alice Springs, was acquired in late 2024 and has since returned “outstanding assays” from surface sampling, the company said in a January release. Tivan plans to begin drilling in the fourth quarter of 2025, with scoping studies to follow.

“Sincere thanks to NT government for recognising the importance of the Sandover fluorite project,” said executive chairperson Grant Wilson. “Tivan is fully committed to central Australia and has very high expectations for this project.”

Tivan is evaluating both an expedited direct shipping ore pathway to produce metspar, and a traditional project route targeting acid-grade fluorspar, used widely in chemical and industrial applications.

The company is progressing environmental approvals, including a licence application to the Department of Environment, Parks and Water Security, and is coordinating with the Central Land Council for cultural heritage and sacred site clearances.

Tivan expects new assay results from surface samples later this month and plans to deploy its geology team to Sandover in September and October, after wrapping up work at its Speewah project.
